With the help of student volunteers and Tigerx Pharmacy in Honaker, VA, Phi Lambda Sigma were able to provide blood pressure checks, blood glucose readings, A1C% testing, flu shots, and medication and lifestyle counseling to people in need. The Tazewell County Disability, Education, and Health Expo was held at the Middle School. At this event, we set up two tables to provide blood pressure checks, blood glucose checks, flu shots, A1C% screenings, medication and lifestyle counseling, as well as presented a "Vaccine: Fact or Fiction?" poster. The health expo saw over 150 people come in to see student performances, receive free health screenings (supplies donated courtesy of Dr. Ben and Chuck Price of Tigerx Pharmacy), and see what disabilities and education services they could receive from local vendors.

At the High School, we set up a table to promote the pharmacy profession as well as the Appalachian College of Pharmacy. The career fair saw representatives from several local colleges as well as branches of the military to inform attendees of all the opportunities they could provide to attendees. This gave us a terrific opportunity to hopefully recruit the pharmacists of tomorrow as well as inform them on how to become a pharmacist while also providing free blood pressure checks. We were able to meet with students, parents, and teachers to talk with them about the pre-requisites required to get into pharmacy school, all of the different opportunities the pharmacy field provides, as well as how rewarding being a pharmacist is.
