Escapes and Brews

The members of ACP's Phi Lambda Sigma Chapter hosted their first Meet and Greet event of the academic year. With a lot of hard work and planning, the officers coordinated to have any interested rising P2 and P3 students to join them at the Escape Room in Kingsport, TN! For those who don't know, Escape Room is a concept that brings a group of people together, locked in a room, to find and decipher clues in order to escape. These rooms are difficult to escape from and you have one hour to do so. Escape Room of Kingsport currently consists of three rooms: SherLOCKed, Hollywood Hotel, and Taken.

PLS reserved all three rooms for the first time slots beginning at 2:30 PM. The first to begin was SherLOCKed, which had 8 ACP students and guests locked inside. This room was based out of Victorian London, England where you worked along side the great Sherlock Holmes. Luckily this group of students escaped from the room with only 18 seconds to spare!!

The next room to begin their journey was the Taken Room, which was a Cabin-themed room that put the participants kidnapping situation. This room consisted of 5 ACP students and guests. This group of students made it out of the room alive, as well as figured out who their kidnapper was and the motive for doing so! They escaped the room with only 1 minute and 20 seconds left to go!

Top Row: Ryan Endicott; Bottom Row (left to right): Nasheed Shams, Jade Adams (guest), Amber Adams, and Courtney Sims

Lastly, the Hollywood Hotel Room attempted their escape! This room was a 1930s Murder Mystery themed room with 6 ACP students locked inside. With only one clue left to go, they unfortunately hit the one hour mark. They were so close!! Never fear though, they were still let out of the room in the end!

Left to Right (Top row): Joel Buremoh, Thai Nguyen, and Marvin Henson; Bottom Row: Christianna Tran, Kieu-Lan Le, and Josmi Thomas

Immediately following the excitement of the Escape Room, the group headed out to Papas and Beer, a Mexican restaurant, for light appetizers and some happy hour action. It was an amazing time hanging out, relaxing, and enjoying our last weekend together before the P3 class leaves for rotations! Next stop was Sleepy Owl Brewery (SOB for short)!!

SOB is a brewery that is local to Kingsport and is the only brewery in the city! They carried plenty their own brews, as well as a variety of other locally brewed beers! It was here the group enjoyed sitting on the patio on the beautiful sunny day, playing corn hole, and card games!

PLS Officers Courtney Sims and Amber Adams show off their flight of beers.

Lastly, this amazing day wrapped up with sushi at Stir Fry Cafe. Overall, PLS was pleased to be able to host this day out in Kingsport, TN! It was definitely a blast and a day for the books. The officers and members of PLS are ecstatic to host future events and hopefully be able to include even more students!
